Specialty Shows
What is a Specialty Show?
Specialty dog shows are restricted to dogs of a specific breed or to varieties of one breed. Nutmeg's specialty show is for German Shorthaired Pointers only. Dog shows (conformation events) are intended to evaluate breeding stock. The size of these events ranges form large all-breed shows with over 3,000 dogs entered, to small local specialty club shows featuring a specific breed. The dog's conformation (overall appearance and structure), movement and type are judged. Where Are the Specialty Shows Held?
The Nutmeg specialty show is held in conjunction with the Pioneer Valley Kennel Club at the Franklin County Fairgrounds in Greenfield, MA at their annual August dog show. Though the weather can be hot, we like the outdoor venue. Specialty shows offer the chance to meet and socialize with other shorthair owners. We have Puppy and Veteran Sweepstakes, trophies, a raffle of various dog-related items, and a hospitality table. Find show details at InfoDog.com

Supported Entry Shows
What is a Supported Entry Show?
A supported entry dog show is a mini specialty show that it is held in conjunction with an "all breed" show. These shows generally bring in more entries, thus usually making the show a "major", and all dogs need to win two "majors" to finish their championship title. Where Are the Supported Entry Shows Held?
Venues for the supported entry shows can vary, but in the past have been held in conjunction with the Pioneer Valley Kennel Club at the Franklin County Fairgrounds in Greenfield, MA; or in West Springfield, MA at the Mallory Building of the Big E Fairgrounds; or at the Greenwich Kennel Club in Norwalk, CT.
